As the flurry of recruiting news has died down these past couple of weeks, a brief spark emerged when 4-star defensive end Derick Hunter announced he was going to be making a return trip to the Gators this coming weekend. Out of Fort Myers, Florida, the 6’4″, 281 pound SDE had previously visited Dan Mullen and the Gators during last months Junior Day, which earned many accolades from recruits.
The same can apparently be said of Hunter, who felt good enough about his time with the new staff that he has decided to make a return trip to Gainesville to continue his evaluation of the Gators.
I’ll definitely be in the swamp this weekend 🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊 #swampsquadxix

Hunter had previously been verbally committed to the Miami Hurricanes, but has since backed off that pledge, making him a top priority for many schools. The two teams who look best positioned to land this monster end are currently the Gators and Georgia Bulldogs, though Miami is still in the mix and Penn State is also making a recent push.
We think Florida may have a slight edge going into an important visit this weekend, in which the Gators will be starting fall practice. Don’t quite expect a commitment this weekend, but if all goes well we do think the in-state Gators will become Hunter’s leaders by Sunday night.
