Gators 2019 Recruit Short List – An early look at Florida’s targets

As anticipation builds for the start of spring practice and the start of Dan Mullen’s first season as Gators head coach, he and the coaching staff are continuing to look beyond to 2019 as well. With a whole new class to learn and covet (but don’t tweet!) we wanted to put together a short list of recruits that the Gators have offered.

Players we are rumored to be in really good position with are in bold. Bold doesn’t mean they are going to pick us though, as it is way too early to get a feel for that. If you are wondering what the goal is – I would say we want at least 50-75% or our class coming from this list. If the percentage ends up being lower, there are likely issues as Dan Mullen will be expected by many to land a top 10 class and preferably better.

Once the list begins to narrow we will start putting together a list with more information, such as probabilities and star ratings. Both items will clear up as the Fall nears.

Chomp & Cheer’s Bold Opinion:

If you are talking about guys who are insanely talented and we would accept a commitment from today, I would say around half of this list. If you are talking about game-changing talent that every team in the country will basically fling themselves at and that the coaches feel like they may have a shot:

RB: Trey Sanders

WR: Frank Ladson, Jeremiah Payton, Jashawn Sheffield

TE: Keon Zipperer

OL: Kenyon Green, Wanye Morris, Warren McClendon, Deyavie Hammond, Dontae Lucas, Harry Miller, Clay Webb, Evan Neal

WDE: Khris Bogle, D’Sean Perry, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Lloyd Summerall

SDE: Derick Hunter, Jaquaze Sorrells, Nathan Pickering

DT: Ishmael Sopsher, Tyler Davis

ILB: Nakobe Dean, Shammond Cooper

OLB: Marcus Tillman

CB: Akeem Dent, Chris Steele, Kaiir Elam, Maurice Hampton, and Andrew Booth

S: Brendan Gant, Lewis Cine

If you want to go deeper than that, I would say Ishmael Sopher/Kayvon Thibodeax are going to stay in the top 10 and be Sal Sunseri’s two biggest targets by far. Shammond Cooper might be the top LB on our entire board. Trey Sanders will probably stay the #1 RB on every board. Dayevie Hammond and Evan Neal are the top two OL in the state at IMG and both from Florida originally. Keon Zipperer is hands down our top TE target. Jeremiah Payton and Frank Ladson are the top 2 WRs in Florida.

2018 recruiting was wild and we’re sure 2019 will be no different!
