Along with top-100 offensive tackles and fellow Tampa (Fla.) products Nicholas Petit-Frere and Richard Gouraige, the Gators hosted another offensive lineman in 3-star guard Griffin McDowell, a Mississippi State commit who received an offer from Dan Mullen and John Hevesy almost over a week ago.
Now that he has visited and gotten a chance to really connect with the coaching staff, multiple sources close to McDowell believe he will flip to the Gators.
The 6’4″ and 280 pound lineman out of Leesburg, Georgia, is currently committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs and has been since last June. But after Mullen and crew left Mississippi for greener pastures in The Swamp, both parties continued to show interest in each other. McDowell projects as a center at in college, though he does have experience play at center, guard, and even left tackle. With T.J. McCoy being the only true center on the roster, the depth chart gets very thin as Tyler Jordan is the only other real option – and he may be needed at other spots throughout the season.
While McDowell will need some time to grow into an SEC lineman, he will be a solid commit for the Gators and has a lot of versatility while providing needed depth on the line.

Our Prediction: After canceling his upcoming trip to Louisville, the Bulldogs commit should be Gator chomping in a couple of weeks.
Florida Gators – 99% chance
Mississippi State Bulldogs – 1% chance… if that
