More great news comes on Early Signing Day as 4-star Safety Trey Dean has decided to commit and sign with the Gators. The No. 22 overall safety prospect will be the 3rd safety committed to the Gators for the 2018 class. He will likely join Randy Russell and John Higgins, who committed over the weekend (technically the Gators also plan to sign Safety Amari Burney, but the reported plans are for him to move to outside linebacker).
The 6′ 2″ prospect from Hampton, Georgia, de-committed in from the Volunteers in December after the the Vols season continued to come crashing down and Butch Jones was (finally) fired. Dean reportedly loved his trip to Gainesville last weekend and built a great connection with the coaching staff, who recently hired Charlton Warren as it’s Defensive Backs coach, someone Dean knew very well from his time visiting the Vols.
Alabama was also in contention for Dean’s services, but the Gators are the fortunate ones on this day as they get a top-notch defensive prospect, filling an area of need for the Gators during this offseason.
