Well, it looks like Dan Mullen and the Gators have moved on quickly from the loss of Matt Corral in the 2018 recruiting class. News has just broke that 4-star prospect Emory Jones is in Gainesville this weekend and will be taking his official visit with the Gators.
This is obviously huge news, as the Gators are looking for an answer at quarterback and with 4-star Matt Corral announcing yesterday that he is flipping to Ole Miss, Florida needed to make quick moves for guys to fill the void in the class. Jones, who hails from Heard County, GA, is currently committed to Ohio State and it will be hard to get a flip from him, with Alabama also in hot pursuit, and his desire to sign with a team during next weeks Early Signing period.
Florida has two big things that could entice Jones to make the move: an opportunity to start immediately and Dan Mullen’s offense, which would fit Jones’ skillsets as a duel-threat QB almost perfectly. With no QB in the current class, former Gators Luke Del Rio and Malik Zaire (to be determined) graduating from the team, and serious questions for those remaining on the roster, a push for a talent like Emory Jones would be huge for Dan Mullen and the Gators.
Buckle up Gator fans, this is going to be a wild ride!
